The number of women heading family farms in Ukraine is only 10%, the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Elena Kovalyova, said in a press release.
One third of the country's total population lives in villages, 53% of them are women. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine is working to create equal conditions for access to all state support programs, information and organizational measures.
Moreover, the ministry initiates the organization of agricultural activities especially for women, Kovaleva noted.
According to Elena Kovaleva, special events aimed at the female population of the villages are designed to inform and give tools for conducting successful agricultural production, as well as promoting the product and its profitability.
Today, the involvement of women in the activities of agricultural enterprises cannot be called optimal. The number of women who head family farms is 10%.
Only 1/3 of agricultural cooperatives that received state support are now headed by women. The ministry sees many tasks for promoting the work of women in the country's agro-industrial complex and encouraging their active participation in agricultural business, said Elena Kovaleva.
