Federation Council speaker Valentina Matvienko urged her colleagues to register at least two regional brands each year.
One of the first to respond to the call was the Astrakhan region. And now two new brands have appeared in this region - Astrakhan Vobla and Astrakhan Camel.
“It turns out that we have unique camels in Russia, but we don’t know,” Matvienko admitted at a meeting of the Council for the Development of the Institute of Intellectual Property in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

Note that the Astrakhan example is not the only one. So, after the call of Matvienko in North Ossetia, they registered a new brand of mineral water - “Lower Karmadon”. The Belgorod region is not lagging behind - the “Starooskolsky clay toy” appeared there. As for Bashkiria, from now on the region has its own branded musical instrument - kurai.
Valentina Matvienko emphasizes that all this is just the tip of the iceberg. According to the speaker, one should not just create new brands, but carefully monitor their competitiveness.
“It is necessary to register really strong and competitive brands, the development of which can bring economic dividends to the regions,” said Valentina Matvienko. - Therefore, it is necessary not only to accelerate this process, but first of all to improve its quality. In this I see one of the main tasks of our Council. ”
