A case of mad cow disease was detected in the village of Stanovo, Mukachevo District, Transcarpathian Region.

On April 10 of this year, the diagnosis was confirmed in one of the cows. The owner of the injured animal, Ivan Horvat, says that it began to behave strangely, did not get up and refused to eat, and after some time died.

Margarita Bisagi's cow is now under suspicion. The hostess noticed that foam was coming from the animal’s mouth and nose, and it stopped eating. Margarita called the veterinarian, he did some injection, but in the morning the cow died.

Three years ago, there were already cases of mad cow disease in the village, said Ivan Yovbak, chairman of the village council of the village of Stanovo. Yesterday, all the animals susceptible to the disease were vaccinated in the village. The owners of the cow, which had rabies, were also vaccinated. Quarantine in the village will last for 2 months.

Since the beginning of this year, 4 cases of mad cow disease have been identified in the Mukachevo district. Experts suggest that the cows grazed near the forest, where they could be bitten by a rabid fox.

Specialists of the veterinary service ask the population to contact veterinarians if strange behavior in animals is noticed. An animal with rabies is characterized by severe salivation, water phobia, a change in appetite and aggressiveness. Rabies is a highly contagious and deadly disease.
