The other day, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation in the agro-industrial sector made a report on how productively and actively the forests located on farmlands are used.
“Together with representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture, Economic Development and Nature, as well as with the assistance of representatives of the Rosselkhoznadzor and Rosleskhoz, we studied the condition of agricultural land that is occupied by forest,” said Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Gordeev. - As a result, it was decided to transfer part of the territories covered by the forest to the resources of the forest fund. The other part will remain in the circulation of agriculture and may be rehabilitated at the discretion of the farmers. ”
At the moment, careful monitoring of those agricultural lands that are covered by forest is being carried out. Researchers transmit information to the regional administration. The final decision on these sites will be taken collectively at the highest level.
“If these territories are identified as unsuitable for farming, they will be transferred to the balance of forest funds,” Gordeev noted. “It is possible that these territories can still be brought into a state that will allow them to carry out agricultural activities.”
In addition, the legal status of these “disputed” territories will be regulated. Rosselkhoz experts note that today the area of such territories is about 40 million hectares.
“Those lands. Which will go to the balance of the forest fund, will be protected from fires, pests of various nature and from illegal cutting down of plantings, ”the Russian Agricultural Agency assured.
