Australia has launched a pilot Agricultural Biodiversity Management Program on March 25, which encourages national producers to absorb carbon. The cost of the program is 30 million US dollars.
Farmers contributing to the conservation of biodiversity can also receive an additional bonus for their products, and another 4 million US dollars should be allocated to create a national and internationally recognized certification of biodiversity.
“I always thought that farmers needed to pay for managing biodiversity at their sites,” said Federal Minister of Agriculture David Littleprod.“Farmers should be rewarded for keeping plants and animals on their farm, and not be punished by stopping them on this land without any compensation,” such a message was made after Littleprod went on Friday Ravensthorpe to meet farmers struggling with drought.
The Minister allocated $ 1 million for the planned expansion of the State Barrier Fence 660 km from the end point near Ravensthorpe east of Esperance, near Cape Arid National Park.
