Authorized representatives of the customs service of the Jewish Autonomous Region were able to quickly stop the import into the territory of the Russian Federation of meat products affected by the genome of African swine plague.
We are talking about an incident that occurred at the airport of Birobidzhan. The customs officers there, with the support of Rosselkhoznadzor, stopped the attempt by a citizen of the People’s Republic of China to smuggle two kilograms of sausages into their hand luggage.
Suspicious sausage was seized from a Chinese man and sent for examination to a veterinary laboratory. Soon, analyzes showed that the meat delicacy was literally crammed with the causative agent of African swine fever.“As part of the study, we identified genetic samples of ASF in sausage samples taken from a citizen of the PRC,” Rosselkhoznadzor shared. “The seized product was immediately sent for disposal with all precautions under the supervision of authorized workers!”
It will not be amiss to note that from the moment the sausage was seized from the Chinese, reinforced baggage control was introduced at all border crossing points in the city of Birobidzhan to identify agricultural products made by livestock breeding forces abroad.
