China is buying more American soybeans again. The total volume of purchases per week is 1,590,000 tons.
Last week, the media reported that China could purchase from 500,000 to 2.5 million tons of American soybeans.
Regarding work on a possible trade agreement between the US and China, Chinese officials say they work with their American counterparts day and night. The Chinese deputy trade minister said he was optimistic about the next step in the negotiations to end the trade war between the two countries, telling reporters: "Two delegations are still working on documents for the trade deal day and night."
In addition, the official said that mutual taxation harms workers, farmers, exporters and manufacturers. US Ambassador to China Terry Branstad said negotiators need to further narrow the gap in their positions, including with regard to forcing a potential trade deal before it will be possible to organize a summit with China.
