A crop failure of sunflower on the fields of the Russian LLC Agrolipetsk led the company management not only to enormous losses, but also directly to the abyss of the lawsuit. For losses in the amount of about 90 million rubles, suppliers from the United States of America are called to account.

The compensation that Agrolipetsk demands from the Americans is an amount of about one and a half million dollars. And all because of the defective seeds that the Russians acquired from two overseas firms.

“We bought from these suppliers sunflower seeds for several years - from 2013 to 2015. Sellers positioned the goods as a special hybrid variety developed for cultivation on Russian fields, ”said Agrolipetsk representatives. “We were looking forward to a generous harvest, but instead of abundantly planting sunflowers of a unique variety, we suffered millions of losses!”

Seed suppliers from the United States, learning about the incident, did not flee from liability. They pleaded guilty, but instead of monetary compensation for losses, they offered the Russians another option: to compensate the amount of damage ... with other items of goods from their assortment. “They wanted to compensate for our losses with other seeds and pesticides for processing plants. But we, of course, refused! ” - commented on the Russian farmers.

Agrolipetsk also added that in 2015, US suppliers already knew that their “unique” seeds were defective, but they were in no hurry to publicize this unpleasant fact.

“We sent to those companies requests for the following information: are they really the developers of this variety and is it true that scientists from Switzerland and Russia participated in the selection. But there is no answer, ”deceived farmers lament.
