In the Krasnodar open spaces, which are traditionally considered the cradle of Russian rice growing, stocks of cereals from round-grain cultivars are on the verge of complete disappearance.
Kuban storages currently have minimal rice reserves, which barely exceed eighty-two and a half thousand tons. For comparison, it should be noted that this figure is almost three times lower than the volume of stocks of rice cereals from round grain in the same period last year.
About sixty thousand tons of rice were shipped from the granaries of the region every month. Experts, analyzing the rice industry in the region and the country as a whole, note that they have not recorded such critically low rice volumes in Kuban storages since 2015.
According to them, if in the near future there will be no replenishment of Kuban bins, there will be enough rice left only for the next month and a half. An opportunity to replenish rice stocks will be provided only by the purchase of foreign products within the framework of all-Russian imports.
Having studied all aspects of the situation, experts came to the conclusion that the cause of the emerging deficit may lie in the low quality of grain.
It will not be superfluous to note that over the past few years, by the second half of each year, stocks of such crops as raw rice have been significantly reduced: for example, in 2016, grain stocks ran out before the start of a new harvest, in 2017 - by the beginning of autumn, and in 2018 - again before the harvesting campaign.
