One and a half hectares in its area occupies the first grove of pistachios throughout Ukraine. An unusual garden was laid by a farmer named Andrey Petkov, who lives and works in the city of Izmail (Odessa region).
According to the admission of the landowner, he laid his unusual farm about a year ago, planting a field with seedlings. Andrei brought planting material from his next trip to Uzbekistan, where he once went to learn from the local gardeners the useful experience of cultivating and cultivating pistachios.
Having carefully studied the achievements of the Uzbek colleagues in growing pistachio trees, having familiarized themselves with their features, Petkov. Finally, I decided to grow atypical plants in my own country.
Today, its seedlings have turned into a forty-centimeter (in some cases, the length of the seedlings already reaches sixty centimeters). According to the farmer, the grove will begin to bear fruit in five years. This will be the first and small crop. And large-scale fruiting is predicted at least in twelve years, or even more.
Andrei Petkov does not intend to stop there. In the near future he plans to plant varietal forms to the already existing young trees. For example, such as Kerman and Peter.
Note that one pistachio tree during the period of active fruiting can produce about a thousand nuts per year.
