On July 9, the United Kingdom launched the second round of financing a small grant program to increase agricultural productivity.
UK farmers can now apply for grants ranging from £ 3,000 to £ 12,000 to invest in new and innovative technologies.
A feature of this round is the addition of 26 new tools to the list of available for purchase with grant funds, including chlorophyll meters, which instantly measure the content of chlorophyll in plant leaves.
Another novelty is the portable ammonia analyzer, which can be used to check ammonia levels in agricultural buildings. Farmers and agricultural enterprises have eight weeks to apply for financing.
Grants totaling £ 15 million to finance investments in new technologies are available for all types of farms, including livestock, horticultural and agricultural.
Agriculture Secretary Robert Goodwill said the small grant scheme was “popular” because it gives farmers access to equipment that can provide “quick and tangible improvements.”
“Leaving the EU, we want more farmers to invest in technologies that can improve results and really make a difference,” the minister said.
