Growing grapes is a favorite business and the main source of income for an enterprising farmer from the Ternopil region. He has been engaged in viticulture for 20 years and has never regretted his choice.
“Today in my grape collection there are more than 80 grape varieties (next year there will be ten more), which annually give a high yield with large fruits,” says Julian. And it’s not cunning, because some clusters of grape berries reach a weight of more than 2.5 kg.
Today in the possession of Navolsky - about 200 fruiting vine bushes. Only some of them are farmers grown outdoors. The rest grow and develop in a specially equipped greenhouse half a kilometer long.
Greenhouses are needed for Julian in order to protect the bushes from the weather and insects.
“Wasps, hornets, snow, hail and rain, as well as strong winds and flies are all enemies of grapes, and I try to protect my bushes to the maximum,” says Julian. “In addition, in greenhouse conditions, the fruits ripen faster.”
Navolsky tries not to grow late grape varieties, as in the conditions of early autumn cooling the berries simply do not have time to ripen.
Farmer's horse - varieties of large grapes. According to Julian, the larger the grapes, the more attractive they are. Especially the winemaker can not get enough of the variety Bogatyanovsky, which gives him a bunch of grapes weighing 2.85 kg.
As a fertilizer, Navolsky uses superphosphate. Wood ash and ammonium nitrate - all this he brings to the depression (length, width and depth of half a meter). Spreads the roots of seedlings of grape bushes, sprinkles half of the soil and pours a bucket of water. Harvest from newly planted bushes Julian receives in 2-3 years.
